First of all , how come you deleted 80 Mail boxes? Mail boxes dont get deleted on there own so human error is involved. As they have got deleted so only two ways1. Recover from only line back with RSG (in case of outisde retention period).2. Recover it from dumpter in case , within retention period.Question is due you have a valid backup, if yes http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124515.aspxand how ot use Recovery storage group RSG http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa997694.aspxAlso if within retention period http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa997182.aspxRaj

The default retention period for deleted mailboxes is 30 days. Did you ever change this? If you're still within the retention period you can simply reconnect the mailboxes. How to Recover a Deleted Mailbox http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa997182.aspx

Good to hear that you were able to recover the mail boxes.Databse status has nothing to do with mailbox deletion.when you dump the database header with eseutil /mh, it will show if your database is good to mount or you are missing on some log files. So if you are missing on some some log files , either you mount the databse which actally is a soft recovery and will play all the log files to mount the databse. In case some log files are missing and your databse is dirty shut down state, so only two option1. Hard repair (eseutil /mh, eseutil /d and isinteg)or 2. Recover from a backup.Precautions that you can take1.To have very very limited logins on exchange server.2. Enable auditing on AD3. Dont make your users member of any protected group till they really want it.4. Makke sure your back is there any time. Max you loose is one day data in case if you have a valid BD backup. Raj

Hi, Exchange FrontEnd and BackEnd concept was in earlier exchange version. In Exchange 2007 you will need CAS Exchange Server acting as FrondEnd Servers if compare older version. HUB transport servers for mail transport and routing acting as Bridgehead servers in earlier version. Mailbox Box servers acting as Backend server in earlier version. Exchange 2007 is a Multi-Role system where you can install all basic roles (e.g. MBx, HUB, CAS) in a single server or you can install them on each dedicated server. Here are the guidelines to install Exchange 2007 in a new organization. Part1 and Part2. http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/Installing-Exchange-2007-Part1.html Installing Exchange 2007 on a Existing Exch 2003 org. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124350.aspx Hope this helps.
